With a personal mission Erik founded Kenya Youth Hockey Development in 2014, which has become an official foundation. Our core team consists of three board members and a manager.

Treasurer

Luc works as site manager in the chemicals manufacturing sector. Luc played hockey at HDM and for the last 15 years as a veteran at HC Breda. He worked abroad for many years and participated three times in the Zuid-Oost Azië hockey tournament (ZOAT).
Luc’s motivation to support KYHD is his strong belief that team sport is ideal to develop young people through a combination of fun and discipline.

Secretary

Joost van Mierlo (1962) is a partner at De Voort Advocaten I Mediators in Tilburg. He has held various administrative and supervisory positions for many years. Joost is married en has three children. In his spare time he still likes to play hockey. See his full resume here.

The management

Erik van
der Dussen

Founder

Erik van der Dussen works as a strategy and risk consultant in East Africa. Erik and his family moved from Europe to Africa, Nairobi in Jan 2014 for four years
He has played hockey since the age of 10, but had to wait until he was 48 to win a league with his fellow Veterans.
His motivation to set up and manage the KYHD program is the pure joy that his boys and girls show off, each time that they join the hockey pitch.
